On Saturday Nov. 17, the Burchfield Penney Art Center will be hosting Entropy: The PoetExpo. The event will run from 1p.m. to 6 p.m. and will begin with a panel discussion from the featured poets, including Megan Kemple, Julio Montalvo Valentin, Robin Jordan and Eve Williams. The audience will have a chance to ask the artists questions to learn more about their work.

There will be many literary vendors, such as bookstores, literary magazines and more. The day will wrap up with featured readings from each of these poets. One of the event Coordinators, Paige Melin, wants Canisius College students interested in creative writing and poetry to know, “Buffalo is an incredible place to be a writer. We have a rich history of famous writers living in Buffalo, including Mark Twain, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Lucille Clifton and Joyce Carol Oates.”

Melin encourages all students to attend the event; admission is $5 with a student ID and ten dollars without. After the event Benjamin Brindise will be hosting a mystery event at Hotel Henry.

The mystery event was recently revealed as The POETEXPO After Party & Video Cypher. Poets will be able to submit their names and a lottery draw will determine who will fill a two hour cypher of poetry on the 2nd floor lounge at Hotel Henry.

“All poems read and performed will be professionally filmed and then uploaded on Facebook and to a YouTube channel, such as Write About Now or Button Poetry. The goal is create a great after-hours poetry reading in a nice venue, but still have a take away for the poets, along with creating another platform to share Buffalo poetry,” Brindise said.

The poetry expo will be a great event for aspiring writers to learn more about the current writers in Buffalo and how they became so successful.
