The Canisius women’s rowing team traveled to the City of Brotherly Love Saturday, where they competed in the 52nd annual Kerr Cup. Thirty-eight clubs from several different states across the country competed.

Canisius placed well in several events, including second overall in the women’s petite final with a time of 7:42.29, eight seconds behind St. Joseph’s. That shell was crewed by Misa Gamble, Max McGuire, Brooke Stanley, Emma Vicaretti, Sydney Bischel, Jessica Fabian, Tara Federow and Shannon Pritzker.

The team also placed well in the second heat of the women’s four event, where Giana Ortolani, Sara Ruszczyk, Anzeka Krobot, Hannah Whelan and Andrea Kraft placed third out of five shells, finishing ahead of Robert Morris and Iona with a time of 8:50.64.

Elsewhere, the Griffs placed fifth in the second women’s varsity eight heat and fourth in the women’s varsity eight heat.

Coach Kerri Brace’s team will play host for several other schools at the Black Rock Cup on Sunday, April 29 at the West Side Rowing Club in Buffalo. The regatta is Canisius’ only home meet this season.
