Step Out Buffalo 10/18

By Lauren Spoth

  • Check out the best new street art in the Queen City – In our humble opinion, street art is the best art. We ain’t sorry. This past year Western New York has been treated to lots of brand-spankin new street art thanks to various public art projects, student initiatives, contests, and great people just being great. From Art Alley in Niagara Falls to the Albright-Knox’s “72 Jewet”, there’s a ton of amazing works of art to admire/take pictures in front of and upload to Instagram. Pro-tip: Stop by the work-in-progress ‘Greetings From Buffalo’ and say hi to artist Casey Milbrand as he finishes his masterpiece in real time. > Read more on the 9 New Street Art Masterpieces You Should Know About at stepoutbuffalo.com/new-street-art-masterpieces-you-should-know-about
  • Do a haunted *anything* – PSA: You literally have days until Halloween is over and then it’s basically New Years. Soak up every last iota of scariness/haunted-ness/Halloweeny-ness by checking out one of the zillion Halloween-related happenings taking place between now and October 31. Ghost hunts, haunted houses, themed parties, murder mystery Escape Rooms, a Prom of the Dead – it’s time to go Halloween HAM people. > Read more on the best Halloweeny things to do at stepoutbuffalo.com/things-to-do-this-week
  • Go shopping –  Change of seasons = change of wardrobe. Whether you feel like your closet could use a few new pieces or you just decided you hate everything you own and need all new stuff (been there), there’s lots of great places around town to help you transition into fall and look really, really, really, really, really ridiculously good looking. That Hansel’s so hot right now> Read more on the best places to Shop Local at stepoutbuffalo.com/shop-local
  • Get inspired – Did you know Buffalo has a competition where start-ups compete to win $5 million bucks in prizes? The 43 North Competition is basically Shark Tank but in real life and so much cooler. Listen to companies from all over the world give their 10 minute pitches then see who wins the grand $1 million prize at the Finals Round. It all happens at Shea’s Performing Arts Center on Thursday October 27 and BONUS: it’s ~free~ to attend. > Read more on 43 North’s Million Dollar Round at stepoutbuffalo.com/events/43-north-finals-1-million-round-awards-ceremony
